Lightweight’s Leistungstrager Seatpost shows what a difference smart layup can make.
It’s long been known that the big advantage of fabricating out of carbon fiber is that more material can be put where you need it, and less material can be put where you don’t. It’s more precise than doing both butting and machining to a component.
Lightweight built this post for their frames, but it goes great with any frame it will fit in. They started by fabricating a 300 or 350mm long shaft in the 27.2mm diameter that they offer for their frames. It’s also a popular size across the bike spectrum. They devised a layup that provides a stable platform for hard pedaling, but also has some give when riding over rough stuff.
They then finished the top with a round opening. This is perfect for installing a machined aluminum clamp that can precisely and easily position your saddle at the exact setback and angle you want. And a single bolt does the adjusting.
The clamp works with both round 7mm and oval 7x9mm rails.
The setback is 20mm. The recommended max rider weight is 120kg. The 300mm post weighs 172g; the 350mm post weighs 185g.
