CeramicSpeed was founded in 2004 in Holstebro, Denmark, by Jacob Csizmadia — a former competitive inline skater who discovered the performance advantages of ceramic bearings while chasing a 24-hour distance record. The technology transferred directly to cycling: silicon nitride ceramic balls, manufactured using processes originally developed for NASA applications, are 58% lighter and 30-50% faster than conventional steel bearings according to CeramicSpeed's testing. Every bearing is still hand-assembled at the Holstebro facility, where producing each ball takes 50 to 70 days. In 2016, CeramicSpeed acquired Friction Facts — an independent Colorado-based testing lab — to deepen the technical rigor behind their efficiency claims. The 305 products at RA Cycles cover three categories. The OSPW (Oversized Pulley Wheel System) lineup — the brand's most recognized technology — is available across Shimano 9250/8150, SRAM Red/Force AXS, and Campagnolo compatibility, with standard, 3D Titanium, and limited 20th Anniversary editions. Bottom brackets span every major standard: BB30, BB86, BB65, DUB, and threaded options. The UFO product line extends the friction-reduction philosophy to chain prep and maintenance: wax formulations, drip lubricants for indoor, wet, and all conditions, cleaning products, and bearing service kits.
