Zipp Wheels - RA Cycles

Zipp Wheels

RA Cycles carries the full range of Zipp carbon wheels — road, gravel, triathlon, and mountain — from the entry-level 302 through the top-tier NSW line. Zipp has been designing and manufacturing carbon wheels in Indianapolis since 1988, and every rim in the current lineup is still made in their Indiana facility. That level of vertical control is rare in the wheel industry, and it shows in the consistency of the product.

The road lineup is built around three tiers. The Firecrest series (303, 404, 808) uses Zipp's wide, blunt-nosed rim profile for crosswind stability and predictable handling — these are the workhorses. The SW tier adds SRAM's AXS Tire Pressure Monitoring and a lighter build, with the 303 SW sitting at the sweet spot of weight, width, and versatility. The NSW wheels are Zipp's flagship — the 353 NSW at 1,255 grams and the 454 NSW with its sawtooth rim profile represent the most advanced aero and weight engineering Zipp produces. For time trials and triathlon, the 808 Firecrest and 858 NSW go deep — 58mm and 82mm respectively — and the Super-9 disc rounds out the TT setup.

Beyond road, the 303 XPLR series brings Zipp's carbon construction to gravel with a 32mm internal width and 54mm depth, and the 1ZERO HITOP is their mountain bike wheelset for 29-inch trail riding. Browse the full Zipp catalog for handlebars, stems, seatposts, and accessories.

About Zipp Wheels

Zipp was founded in 1988 by Leigh Sargent, a motorsports engineer who applied composite manufacturing techniques from open-wheel racing to bicycle wheels. The company started in Speedway, Indiana — down the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway — and the connection to motorsport was more than symbolic. Sargent's background in aerodynamics and carbon fiber layup gave Zipp a technical edge that defined the brand from day one.

The first product was a carbon disc wheel for time trials and triathlon. From there, Zipp expanded into spoked carbon clinchers, introducing the Firecrest rim shape in 2011 — a wide, rounded profile that improved crosswind stability and became one of the most imitated designs in the industry. In 2016, Zipp launched the NSW line, using biomimicry-inspired sawtooth rim profiles to further reduce drag. SRAM acquired Zipp in 2007, and the integration has deepened over time — the latest SW and NSW wheels now ship with SRAM's AXS Tire Pressure Monitoring sensors built into the valve stems.

Today, Zipp wheels are still designed and manufactured at their facility in Indianapolis. The brand equips multiple WorldTour and professional triathlon teams, and the technology developed for racing filters directly into the consumer product line. RA Cycles is an authorized Zipp dealer and stocks the full wheel range.
