Wilier Filante SL 105 Di2 Bike Info

The Wilier Filante SL 105 Di2 Bike starts from a simple premise: take everything that makes the Filante SLR a genuine WorldTour race bike — the geometry, the aerodynamic tube shaping, the integrated cockpit architecture — and make it accessible to a wider range of riders. Wilier achieves this through a single targeted change: the frame uses an NHU MOD+ high impact strength carbon lamination rather than the SLR's higher-grade layup. The result is a frame that's just under 150 grams heavier than the SLR in the same size, with a painted size M tipping the scales at 1,010 grams, and a ride character that's measurably more compliant and forgiving over long days in the saddle.

What stays the same is more significant than what changes. The Filante SL shares identical geometry with the SLR. The seatpost, spacers, top cover, dropout, and all metal components are the same parts fitted to the WorldTour machine. The aero tube profiles, dropped seatstays, and deep-section headtube are carried over without modification. If you want to ride the same shapes and positions as the professionals, the Filante SL is the most direct route to that experience without the pro-spec price.

Cable routing is complete and fully internal. Wilier feeds all cables through the Z-Bar integrated carbon cockpit and into the frame via their proprietary superthin bearing at the headset — a component Wilier Triestina designs and owns, not available through standard market channels, and serviceable only at authorized dealers. There is no external cable housing anywhere on the bike. The cockpit is clean, the front end is uncluttered, and nothing interrupts the aerodynamic profile where it matters most. Like all Filante SL builds, this is an electronic-only, disc-only platform. Wilier made no provision for cable actuation or rim brakes — this bike exists to go fast and do nothing else.

Shimano 105 Di2 handles shifting throughout. The R7150 front and rear derailleurs paired with R7170 hydraulic disc brake levers provide instantaneous, accurate gear changes and reliable braking in any conditions. The 12-speed 11-34 cassette matched with a 50/34 compact crankset covers a wide gearing range — enough for both fast flat riding and sustained climbs. The 105 Di2 system uses the same core Di2 architecture as Shimano's Dura-Ace and Ultegra tiers, which means the shifting feel and reliability are genuinely comparable at a fraction of the cost.

Miche SWR EVO 50mm carbon wheels come stock on both ends. Fifty millimeters of rim depth brings meaningful aero benefit across flat to rolling terrain while remaining controllable in variable wind — a practical depth for everyday riding rather than just race-day use. Vittoria Rubino IV Graphene 2.0 tires in 700x28 keep rolling resistance in check, and the frame accepts up to 30mm actual tire width if you want additional compliance.

This build is available in four colorways — Silver/Black Glossy, Blue/White Glossy, White Red Glossy, and Bullet Black — across six sizes from XS to XXL.

Design Benefits

  1. Identical geometry to the Filante SLR — same stack, reach, and tube angles as the WorldTour race machine
  2. Shared SLR hardware throughout — seatpost, dropout, spacers, and top cover are the same parts on both bikes
  3. NHU MOD+ carbon adds compliance, not just cost savings — the ~150g weight difference buys a more forgiving ride for everyday training
  4. Proprietary superthin headset bearing — Wilier's own design enables complete internal cable routing with no external housing
  5. Shimano 105 Di2 12-speed electronics — Di2 architecture shared with Dura-Ace; precise, reliable shifting at an accessible price
  6. Miche SWR EVO 50mm carbon wheels stock — genuine aero wheel depth without needing an upgrade
  7. Electronic and disc-only design — no mechanical compromise; built around a single, unambiguous performance direction

Final Take

The Wilier Filante SL 105 Di2 is the most straightforward way to ride WorldTour aero geometry without a WorldTour budget. The frame shares its shapes, hardware, and design intent directly with the Filante SLR, the NHU MOD+ carbon makes it more comfortable for regular training use, and the 105 Di2 build with Miche 50mm wheels delivers genuine performance at a price that's difficult to match in this category. For riders who want a focused, fast aero road bike they can ride every day, this is a strong place to start.

The RA Perspective

The second Filante SL in our lineup, and the question we get asked most is: what's actually different between this and the $7,300 version? The honest answer is not much. Same frame, same geometry, same integrated cockpit, same proprietary superthin bearing, same Miche SWR EVO 50mm wheels. The build differences come down to the saddle — a Selle San Marco Shortfit 2.0 Open-Fit here — and a slightly different bottom bracket spec. For most riders, those aren't meaningful distinctions. What you're getting is the same bike at a $600 lower entry point.

That matters when you think about what this bike actually is. The Filante SL inherits its geometry and frame shapes directly from the SLR — the WorldTour race bike. Wilier changed the carbon lamination to make it slightly more compliant and less expensive to produce, and the frame gains about 150 grams as a result. That's it. Everything structural and geometric about the bike traces back to what the professionals race.

The 105 Di2 groupset continues to impress us at this price point. The shifting is genuinely electronic — fast, accurate, consistent — and it's the same Di2 system architecture running through the whole Shimano lineup. For a customer stepping up from mechanical shifting for the first time, 105 Di2 tends to be a revelation.

We'd recommend this over the $7,300 version to any rider who isn't particular about saddle spec — which is most people, since saddle fit is personal and most serious riders swap their saddle anyway. The core bike is identical, and the $600 savings can go toward a saddle that actually fits. It's a practical choice.
