Front shifting has always been the weak link in mechanical drivetrains — imprecise, dependent on trim adjustments, and prone to chain rub under load. The Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 FD-7970 Front Derailleur addresses this directly, bringing electronic actuation to the front end of Shimano's flagship road groupset.
The FD-7970's automatic micro-trim function is the feature that changes how a front derailleur behaves in real riding. Rather than requiring manual trim inputs when the chain angles across the cassette, the derailleur continuously adjusts the chain guide position to eliminate rub without any input from you. Programmed motion control also governs the shift arc itself, reducing the likelihood of chain drops during front shifts — particularly under load, where mechanical systems are most vulnerable. Braze-on mount only.
