Scott Spark DC 30 Bike Info
The Scott Spark DC 30 Bike is Scott's downcountry mountain bike at a more accessible price point, built around the same Spark DC HMF Carbon Gen5 frame as the rest of the DC lineup. It carries the Spark name that first popularized hiding the rear shock inside the frame's downtube, and the DC treatment pushes that platform toward more travel and a more capable riding position for technical terrain, without losing the low weight and pedaling efficiency the Spark family built its reputation on. At $5,399.99, the Spark DC 30 swaps in a RockShox suspension package and a SRAM Eagle Transmission drivetrain to bring the platform in at a lower cost than the Fox-and-Shimano-equipped builds higher in the line.
The frame carries a Syncros angle-adjust headset that shifts the head tube angle by half a degree in either direction, a fork lock for setup ease, Syncros Gen2 cable integration for a cleaner front end, and a UDH interface at the rear axle. A threaded BSA bottom bracket and 55mm chainline round out a frame built for easy long-term maintenance as much as pedaling stiffness. Reach grows from 430mm on the small frame to 520mm on the extra-large, with a 65-degree head tube angle before any adjustment — geometry that puts the Spark DC closer to a trail bike's stance than a traditional XC race bike, without stretching so far that it loses the Spark platform's quick, efficient feel.
Suspension travel checks in at 140mm up front and 138mm in the rear, handled here by a RockShox Pike Select fork with a Charger RC damper and a RockShox Deluxe Traction Control shock tuned specifically for this bike. Both run through a 3-position remote that switches between Lockout, Traction Control, and Descend modes without a hand leaving the bar, which matters on a ride that mixes a fire-road climb with a rowdy descent in the same loop. The Syncros dropper post scales its drop by frame size, from 150mm on the small up to 225mm on the large and extra-large, so riders across the range get a post suited to their standover height rather than a one-size compromise.
Shifting comes from a SRAM Eagle Transmission drivetrain — a wireless, direct-mount design that bolts straight to the frame's UDH interface instead of relying on a separate derailleur hanger, which cuts down on one of the more common failure points on a mountain bike. The SRAM Eagle 70 crankset runs a single 32-tooth chainring against a wide-range XS-1270 12-speed cassette spanning 10-52, giving the Spark DC 30 more low-end gearing than most single-ring setups for steep, sustained climbs. An AXS Pod Controller handles shifting wirelessly, and SRAM DB6 four-piston brakes with 180mm Centerline rotors bring stopping power that matches the bike's downcountry brief of descending harder than a typical XC bike is asked to.
Syncros Silverton AL2 wheels, tubeless ready front and rear, are wrapped in a Maxxis Forekaster and Recon combination at 29x2.4 — a faster-rolling Forekaster up front for cornering grip and a lower-profile Recon out back to keep pedaling efficient. The cockpit stays straightforward: a Syncros DC stem, a 760mm alloy 7075 handlebar with 20mm of rise, Syncros Lock-On grips, and a Tofino R 2.0 saddle on CrMo rails. The Spark DC 30 ships in Carbon Black across sizes small through extra-large.
The Spark DC 30 is built for the rider who wants the Spark DC's downcountry versatility — one bike for the after-work loop and the all-day mountain outing — without paying for the top-tier suspension and drivetrain found higher in the lineup. With 138mm of rear travel, a 140mm fork, and a wide-range single-ring drivetrain, it covers the same technical terrain as its pricier siblings while keeping the efficient, quick-pedaling feel that defines the Spark platform.
