Scott Addict 20 Bike Info
The Scott Addict 20 Bike is Scott's endurance road platform built for riders who want Shimano Ultegra Di2 precision and carbon wheels without crossing into the $7,000+ range. The HMF carbon frame and fork pair with a full Ultegra Di2 electronic groupset and Fulcrum Wind 42 Disc Brake Carbon wheels — a spec sheet that punches above its $5,499 price in the wheel department especially. This is the Addict, not the Addict RC: the geometry and layup are designed for long days in the saddle across varied terrain, not for criterium corners and sprint finishes.
Scott built the Addict platform around an HMF (High Modulus Fiber) carbon layup that targets compliance without sacrificing road feel. The frame absorbs vibration from rough pavement and chip-seal in a way that reduces end-of-day fatigue — a genuine difference for riders logging 80-mile weekends or back-to-back days. The fork is also Addict HMF carbon. Tire clearance runs to 700x38 and the bike ships with Schwalbe One folding tires in 700x34, which leaves meaningful room to run something wider for added cushion or occasional gravel. A Syncros SP-R101-CF carbon seatpost adds another flex point between the rider and the road. The frame also includes a replaceable UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger), which simplifies the logistics of a bent hanger out on a ride.
Shifting is Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8150 throughout — the front and rear derailleurs, the R8170 integrated hydraulic shift-brake levers, and the R8100 crankset are all Ultegra hardware. The crankset runs a 50/34T compact configuration, mated to a Shimano 105 R7101 12-speed cassette in an 11-34T spread. It's worth noting: the cassette is 105, one tier below the rest of the drivetrain, which is a cost trade-off Scott made to hit the price point. It doesn't affect shifting quality — that comes entirely from the derailleurs and levers. The gearing range handles climbs without spinning out on the flats, and the Ultegra R8170 hydraulic disc brakes deliver consistent stopping power through Shimano CL800 160mm rotors front and rear.
The wheel spec is the standout at this price tier. Fulcrum Wind 42 Disc Brake Carbon wheels deliver 42mm of rim depth — an aero carbon disc wheel that would cost several hundred dollars as a standalone upgrade. The cockpit is mixed-material: the Syncros HB-R100-CF handlebar is carbon, the Syncros ST-R300-AL stem is aluminum, and both are straightforward to swap if you want a different fit or a full-carbon cockpit down the road. The Syncros Tofino V 2.0 Cut Out saddle is a sensible match for long-distance use, and a Syncros iS Drop Bar Tool 2 Composite is included in the box.
The Addict 20 is available in seven sizes — XXS through XXL — a range wide enough to fit riders at both ends of the spectrum without resorting to size compromises. Three colorways are offered: Cumulus White, Tungsten Grey, and Violet Pink. For a road bike that covers endurance riding, light mixed terrain, and everyday training with equal competence, the Addict 20 is a well-considered package at its price.
