Q36.5 Dottore Termico Light Mediterranea Jacket Info

The Q36.5 Dottore Termico Light Mediterranea Jacket is a winter cycling jacket built for milder cold. It is based on Q36.5's deep-winter Termica jacket, retuned for riders who want serious weather protection without the bulk of a full winter shell. Q36.5 rates it for +35°F to +63°F, and it weighs 365 g in size M.

The jacket uses a body-mapped microporous membrane, bonded to an ultralight nylon outer face. Q36.5 specifies 5000mm waterproofness across the chest, back and arms, the areas that take the most spray and rain on the bike. Vented construction on the chest and back is designed to help moisture escape and keep air moving, so the membrane doesn't turn the jacket into a sauna on harder efforts. A lighter version of Q36.5's proprietary Air Insulation is bonded to the membrane to trap warm air between layers. A hermetic double collar seals out drafts around the neck.

The inner vest is the most distinctive part. It is integrated into the jacket and made from graphene-fiber Clima fabric. Q36.5 designed it so you can ride with the outer jacket open on long climbs or intervals and still have a warm layer across your core. When the road tips down or the weather turns, you zip up and get the full membrane and insulation. Q36.5 positions the Mediterranea as the lighter, more compact option in its Dottore jacket range, a good fit for early-season rides, shoulder-season training and winter days that stay above freezing. The Q36.5 jacket comes in Black, in sizes XS through XXL.

The RA Perspective

The Mediterranea is for the days when a full winter jacket is too much and a light shell isn't enough. Q36.5 builds it as a lighter take on its Termica jacket, and at 365 g in a medium it is not heavy for something with a membrane, insulation and an integrated vest.

The integrated vest is the part we'd point customers to. Climbing in cold weather is where most jackets fall down, because you either overheat or unzip and lose your insulation. Here you can open the outer jacket and still have a warm layer across your core, then zip back up for the descent. The vented chest and back also help with moisture on hard efforts.

The tradeoffs are worth knowing. The 5000mm membrane is rated to keep you comfortable in wet, cool conditions, but it is not a downpour shell. Q36.5's rating of +35°F to +63°F puts it squarely in mild-winter territory, so if you ride in deep cold you'll want the full Termica instead. At $550 it is also a serious investment for a jacket with a narrower temperature window.

It suits riders who train through the cool months and want one jacket that can handle the start of a ride and the middle of a climb. We'd reach for it on a 45-degree morning with a chance of showers.
