Orca S6 Wetsuit Info
Deciding on which wetsuit to use depends largely on what type of swimmer you are. Orca has developed a method, what they call their wetsuit matrix, by which you can choose the wetsuit you need according to your strengths and needs. The Orca S6 Wetsuit has been developed as a perfect entry-level wetsuit for someone who would appreciate a little help in the form and buoyancy department.
But don't think entry level equates to poor quality with the S6 Wetsuit. Orca have focused on many of their top quality materials to help make the S6 one of the best choices for anyone trying to improve swimming form. To accomplish this, Orca turns to their Yamamoto 39cell material. If you're fairly new to the neoprene game, you may not know that Yamamoto Corporation provides some of the best high performance neoprene in the world. The 39cell acts as an extremely flexible neoprene that has a greater elongation rate than most neoprenes so that it will move with you. It has an SCS coating designed to absorb no water, gaining no extra weight along the way. SCS stands for Super Composite Skin, and is a coating over the closed-cell neoprene. Offering a perfect balance between buoyancy and flexibility, the Yamamoto 39cell material is combined with a flexible Powerstretch lining to provide an excellent range of motion and improved flexibility. Used under the arms, around the shoulders and on the legs, this neoprene material will keep you dry and more easily afloat, even as your time in the water increases and your strength decreases.
The front panel uses 5mm SCS coated Yamamoto neoprene to offer a maximum of buoyancy. The same material is used for the lower back panel to help you move naturally while giving you a little extra lift in the water. On the inside, Orca's unique InfinitySkin lining plays an essential role in the exceptional level of flexibility in the wetsuits. Constructed from a high stretch nylon, InfinitySkin has been placed where ultimate stretch is required and allows the wetsuit to move dynamically through your swim stroke. HydroLite panels have been strategically placed to make the suit that much easier to remove in the all-important transition portion.
For anyone just getting into open water swimming and looking for some help in the buoyancy area, or anyone who has to stay on a bit of a budget in this typically expensive sport, the Orca S6 Wetsuit will stay with you throughout training exercises and prove extremely well designed once race day arrives.
