Mondraker Sly RR Bike Info
The Mondraker Sly RR Bike occupies a specific and increasingly sought-after position in the mountain bike market: the light eMTB. This is not a maximal-assist machine built around a heavy, high-torque motor. The Sly is built around the Bosch Performance Line SX Gen4 — a motor notable precisely for how unobtrusive it is. At a fraction of the weight and footprint of Bosch's full-power CX platform, the SX delivers 55Nm of torque and up to 600W peak power while keeping the bike's weight and handling character closer to a standard trail bike than a traditional eMTB. For riders who want assistance that flattens climbs and extends range without fundamentally changing how the bike moves underfoot, the SX-based Sly is the right starting point. Power and modes are managed through the Purion 400 display with Bosch Mini Remote and System Controller, running from a Bosch Compact Powertube 400Wh integrated battery.
The frame is built from Mondraker's Stealth Alloy — a lightweight aluminum construction developed for precision and torsional stiffness. The suspension architecture follows Mondraker's Zero Suspension System linkage, designed for pedaling efficiency across the travel range while still responding freely to trail inputs. Rear travel is 150mm. What shapes the Sly's character most distinctively is Mondraker's Forward Geometry philosophy — an approach the brand has been developing for over a decade. Longer reach, shorter stem, greater wheelbase, and a steeper seat tube angle relative to traditional geometry produce a bike that descends with authority and climbs with composure. On the Sly RR, that translates to a 64.5-degree head tube angle consistent across all five sizes, a 74-degree seat tube angle, and reach figures running from 440mm on the Small through 520mm on the XL in 20mm increments. The slack head angle builds confidence on exposed, technical terrain; the steep seat angle keeps the rider's weight effectively over the bottom bracket on sustained climbs.
The Fox 36 Float Performance GRIP fork handles 160mm of front travel, adjusted via three-position compression damping, sweep-adjust compression, and low-speed rebound. At the rear, a Fox Float X Performance EVOL shock in Trunnion mount handles 150mm with two-position compression and rebound adjustment. Both units run air preload. Stopping is handled by SRAM Code Bronze Stealth 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 200mm Centerline rotors front and rear — Code being SRAM's enduro-specific caliper, built for the sustained heat demands of long, steep descents.
The drivetrain is SRAM GX Eagle AXS T-Type: fully electronic, fully wireless 12-speed across a 10-52 cassette, actuated by the SRAM Eagle AXS Pod MMX wireless controller. The crank is an e*Thirteen Helix Core E*Spec Plus turning a 34T SRAM X-Sync 2 chainring. Mavic E-CrossTrail SL wheels — 30mm internal width, hookless, tubeless-ready, and purpose-built for eMTB use — handle both front and rear, spec'd for the additional load and torque demands the motor delivers. Tires are Maxxis Minion DHF 29x2.5 WT at the front and Maxxis Minion DHR II 29x2.5 WT at the rear, both tubeless-ready. The Onoff S6 cockpit covers stem (30mm, 0-degree), handlebar (800mm, 25mm rise, with 15mm rise on L and XL), and Lock-on grips. The Onoff Pija dropper post is sized per frame: 140mm drop on the S, 160mm on the M, 180mm on the ML, and 210mm on the L and XL.
The Sly RR is available in five sizes — S through XL — in the Black / Nimbus Grey / Tonic Gold colorway. Through the Bosch eBike Flow app, an over-the-air software update unlocks the eMTB+ riding mode and increases pedal support up to 400%, extending the platform's capability without any hardware changes. At $5,279.99, the Sly RR delivers an enduro-caliber light eMTB on Fox suspension, SRAM Code brakes, and electronic wireless shifting — a spec level that typically positions well above this price point.
