Look AL 464 P Bike Info
Track bikes are honest machines. No gears, no brakes, no excess — just the rider's output transferred through the drivetrain to the wheel. The Look AL 464 P Bike is built around that honesty. LOOK has been building bikes at a high level in France since the 1980s, and the AL 464 P reflects decades of track expertise filtered into a bike designed for the velodrome's specific demands: steep geometry, reliable components, and a chassis that encourages repeatable effort lap after lap.
The frame is triple-butted aluminum — a practical choice in track applications rather than a compromise. Aluminum handles the lateral loads of velodrome sprinting effectively, and triple-butting means the tubing is thicker at the weld junctions where stress concentrates and lighter in the middle sections where it doesn't need to be. The integrated headset keeps the front end clean. LOOK fits the AL 464 P with a Track Aero Carbon fork — the one carbon element on the bike, and a meaningful one. A stiff carbon fork controls handling precisely through banked turns and keeps front-end weight down where it counts. Geometry runs a 73° head tube angle at XS and 73.5° from S through L, with a consistent 73° seat tube angle across all sizes. Chainstays measure 402mm throughout. This is proper velodrome geometry: aggressive, designed to maintain traction on steep banking, and consistent enough that rider position translates from size to size.
The drivetrain is purpose-built for fixed-gear riding. The Vision crankset runs a 50-tooth chainring at 170mm crank arms — sensible gearing for riders building cadence on the track. The KMC K710 is the standard-bearer for 1/8" track chains, built specifically for fixed-gear applications and well proven for durability under consistent training load. The FSA bottom bracket uses a BSA English threaded interface, which is widely supported and straightforward to service at any shop. The rear hub is flip-flop, carrying a 15-tooth cog on one side and a 16-tooth cog on the other. That single hardware difference is more useful than it sounds — 15t pushes harder at speed while 16t keeps cadence more manageable, and swapping between them requires only flipping the wheel rather than sourcing new parts. For riders still dialing in their preferred gearing, that flexibility matters.
AlexRims Track Black reversible wheels handle the rolling duties — a symmetric aluminum track rim built to take the punishment of repetitive velodrome laps. The Hutchinson Espsilon fold tires measure 700x23mm: narrow enough to minimize rolling resistance on a smooth wooden track, with a folding bead to keep wheel weight down. Cockpit components come from LOOK's own LS2 line. The alloy LS2 stem offers ±7° of angle adjustment for dialing in position, and the LS2 compact handlebar gives riders the drops they need without excessive width. The LOOK LS2 carbon seatpost — 31.6mm diameter, 350mm length — is a notable detail at this price point. Carbon at the seat interface takes the edge off what would otherwise be a firm ride on a wooden track and gives a degree of micro-compliance on the back straight. The saddle is a San Marco Monza. Pedals are not included, as is standard for track bikes — riders have strong preferences about platform and float, and the existing pedal in a rider's kit typically transfers directly.
The AL 464 P comes in sizes XS through L, with an estimated weight of 7.88 kg in size M without pedals. LOOK backs the frame with a lifetime warranty. In Proteam Black Glossy, it looks at home in any velodrome setting — training sessions, academy programs, or first track days where a rider wants equipment they won't outgrow quickly. For coaches and programs sourcing bikes for developing riders, the combination of LOOK's geometry precision and a durable aluminum chassis is a practical choice. For individuals making the move from road or indoor cycling to the velodrome, the AL 464 P offers a legitimate entry point with components selected to perform rather than to fill a spec sheet.
