ISM PM 2.0 Saddle Info

If you already have an ISM saddle on your road bike, but just thought the shape wouldn’t really accommodate your trail riding and downhilling, think again. The ISM PM 2.0 Saddle has been designed with the same soft tissue comfort in mind, but also with an eye towards the unique requirements of serious mountain biking. The naming convention tells you this is for off-roading: PM is their acronym for Performance MTB.

When you are hammering through some single track trails, it becomes increasingly important to be able to maneuver around your saddle. Recognizing this, the designers at ISM gave the PM 2.0 a rounded and sloped rear end that will allow you to move up and around the back of the seat over a technical course. The saddle then receives the 30-series level of foam and gel padding, which falls somewhere in the middle of the ISM padding levels. It’s for riders who like to have firm support but also a touch of luxury for those longer sections riding over fire roads. The plush padding combined with the 135mm width make this a perfect saddle for long-distance events like a 24-hour marathon. Of course, the crux of all ISM saddles is the comfort provided by the nose-less, forked design. You won’t be putting the pressure on your soft tissue, but depending on how aggressive your position, either your sit bones or ischial tuberosities when sitting more upright, or your pubic rami bones when you have your hips rotated forward.

At 255mm, the ISM PM 2.0 is about the same length as a conventional, full nosed saddle, but you should keep in mind when setting it up, that ISM says that you should have between two and three inches of saddle behind you when you are in position. The chromoly rails are long enough to give you a good degree of leverage when adjusting how far forward or back you need to place your saddle.

Whether you like to tootle around your local woods or are in training for the Cape Epic, you’ll find your rides more enjoyable and your performances improved when you use the ISM PM 2.0 Saddle. Increased blood flow and avoiding genital numbness is no longer chimeric.
