The BB386 EVO standard pairs an 86.5mm-wide shell with a 46mm inner diameter, combining the width advantage of wider press-fit standards with the rigidity of a larger-diameter spindle interface. CeramicSpeed's aluminum cups press into that shell and carry Grade 3 Silicon Nitride ceramic balls — a bearing specification that targets a measurable reduction in rotational friction compared to standard steel.
Those Grade 3 Silicon Nitride balls are installed into hardened steel races in dust-free clean rooms and checked before final assembly. CeramicSpeed's own testing claims the balls are 400% smoother and 128% harder than standard steel balls, with bearing service life designed to run three to five times longer.
