BMC Teammachine R 01 Two Bike Info
The BMC Teammachine R 01 Two is BMC’s answer to the question of what happens when a WorldTour cycling brand develops an aero race bike with Red Bull Advanced Technologies — the same engineering group that operates at the intersection of Formula 1 and aerospace. The result is a road bike that doesn’t look like everything else in the aero category, because the aerodynamic problems BMC solved aren’t the ones most manufacturers focus on. At 7.0 kilograms with a full Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 build, a dual-sided power meter, and 65mm DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels, the Teammachine R 01 Two is a complete race machine built around two innovations that genuinely change how the air moves around the bike.
The Halo Fork is the first. Where conventional aero forks attempt to clean up airflow after the front wheel has already disturbed it, the Halo’s ultrawide angular shoulders direct turbulent air from the wheel away from the frame rather than into it. BMC increased the fork spacing to “shutter” that disturbed air to the sides, keeping cleaner airflow attached to the frame further downstream. The downstream aerodynamic benefit compounds — cleaner air at the fork means cleaner air around the down tube, seat tube, and rear triangle. The Mariana Bottom Bracket is the second. Named for the deepest point on Earth, it’s the lowest BB junction BMC has ever designed into a road bike. The geometry of the BB shell minimizes the gap between the frame and the rear wheel, keeping airflow attached to the rim longer on exit. Taken together, these two features define what the Teammachine R does that other aero bikes don’t.
The frame is built from BMC’s 01 Premium Carbon with Aerocore Design — the same carbon grade used in the Teammachine SLR 01 flagship climbing bike, applied here to an aero geometry with full ICS stealth cable routing eliminating every exposed housing run from levers to calipers. The Aerocore integrated bottle cage system follows the tube profiles of the down and seat tubes to reduce drag even when the bike is carrying two full bottles. ICS Carbon Aero one-piece cockpit — 135mm drop, 77mm reach, 12.5° flare — keeps the front end aerodynamically unified from bar to fork crown. Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 runs the drivetrain with a 52/36 crankset, 11-30T cassette, and a 4iiii Precision Gen3+ dual-sided power meter built into the crank. Both sides measured, no estimation.

Design Benefits
- Halo Fork — Redirected Airflow: Conventional aero forks manage turbulence after the wheel creates it. The Halo Fork’s ultrawide shoulders direct that turbulent air away from the frame entirely, keeping cleaner airflow attached to the frame’s profile further downstream. The aerodynamic gain compounds from fork to rear wheel rather than requiring each section to solve its own turbulence problem independently.
- Mariana Bottom Bracket — Downstream Aero Precision: The deepest BB junction BMC has produced on a road bike minimizes the frame-to-wheel gap at the critical transition point where airflow exits the bottom bracket shell and meets the rear wheel. By keeping airflow attached to the rim longer, the Mariana junction reduces drag at a location most aero development ignores.
- Dura-Ace Di2 with Dual-Sided Power Meter: Shimano’s top-tier electronic groupset is the right match for this frame, and the 4iiii Precision Gen3+ dual-sided crankset means you’re measuring both legs independently — no balance assumptions, no single-side estimation multiplied by two. For training and racing at this level, that data quality matters.
- DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 65mm Wheels: At 65mm depth with DT Swiss 180 DICUT hubs and the ratchet freehub engagement system, these wheels deliver aerodynamic efficiency at race speed without the engagement lag that plagues lesser deep-section builds. The 180 hub is among the lightest and most reliable in production cycling.
- Aerocore + ICS Integration: The full system — integrated bottle cages following tube profiles, complete stealth cable routing from lever to caliper, one-piece carbon cockpit — means the Teammachine R 01 Two arrives aerodynamically complete. There’s no component on the bike working against the frame’s drag profile.
Final Take
The BMC Teammachine R 01 Two is a technically distinctive aero road bike at a price that reflects genuine innovation rather than badge value. The Red Bull Advanced Technologies collaboration produced real engineering solutions in the Halo Fork and Mariana Bottom Bracket — features that address aerodynamic problems at the frame level rather than through marginal tube shaping adjustments. With Dura-Ace Di2, dual-sided power data, and 65mm DT Swiss ARC 1100 wheels, the Two build leaves nothing significant on the table. This is what BMC builds for WorldTour racing.
