BMC Teammachine R 01 One Bike Info

The BMC Teammachine R 01 One Bike is what happens when a Swiss cycling brand partners with a Formula 1 aerodynamics team and removes every excuse not to go faster. Developed in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies — the same group that applies computational fluid dynamics to F1 car design — the Teammachine R 01's tube profiles, sloping top tube geometry, and signature Halo fork width are direct products of CFD simulations. BMC's engineers then refined each shape, tuned the carbon layup, and translated those simulations into what they call the fastest road bike they've ever built. At $13,649 with SRAM Red AXS wireless electronics, a built-in power meter, and DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 65mm wheels, it arrives with hardware that matches the ambition.

Three frame technologies define the Teammachine R 01 and separate it from the rest of the lineup. The Halo Fork uses ultrawide carbon legs — unlike anything else currently raced in the peloton — to actively redirect turbulent air generated by the front wheel away from the frame. Instead of letting that disrupted airflow hit the downtube and scatter, the Halo's geometry manages it before it becomes a drag problem. The Mariana Bottom Bracket takes its name from its depth: BMC's deepest BB on any road bike, designed to maximize the frame's surface area in the drive-side zone for cleaner airflow around the cranks and chainstays. And ICS Technology routes every cable and brake line internally through the frame, eliminating the external housing loops that add aerodynamic turbulence at the head tube and down through the frame. The result is a front end that's genuinely narrow from every angle.

The cockpit is a one-piece ICS Carbon Aero bar-and-stem built around race ergonomics: 135mm drop, 77mm reach, 12.5° flare. The narrow tops put you in an aggressive aero tuck while the flared drops open your grip in the corners and on rough pavement. All lines route inside the bar, through the stem, and into the headtube without an external port in sight. The all-new 01 Premium Carbon seatpost is slimmer, deeper, and more vertically compliant than its predecessor, with an integrated number plate holder and a redesigned clamp that's easier to adjust pre-race — small details that matter when you're standing on the start line.

The drivetrain is SRAM Red AXS in full 2x12 wireless electronic configuration. A power meter is built into the crankset rather than added as an afterthought — 48-35T chainrings paired with a 10-33T cassette give you a range that covers bunch sprint finishes and high-alpine stages without a chain drop or mechanical shift to distract you. SRAM Red hydraulic disc brakes run Paceline X 160mm Centerlock rotors. Wheels are DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT at 65mm depth, rolling on DT Swiss 180 DICUT hubs with Ratchet EXP 36 engagement — one of the lightest and most precise hub systems DT Swiss makes, with 36-point engagement for immediate power transfer. Pirelli P Zero Race TLR RS tires at 700x26 come mounted tubeless. A Garmin/Wahoo computer mount and Aerocore bottle cages are included in the box.

Design Benefits

  1. Red Bull Advanced Technologies collaboration — the Teammachine R 01's shapes aren't the product of conventional cycling industry design iteration. The CFD simulations Red Bull runs for F1 aerodynamic development were applied directly to the frame geometry, fork design, and tube profiles. BMC engineers then refined those outputs into a bike that can actually be manufactured and ridden.
  2. Halo Fork — the ultrawide carbon fork legs redirect turbulent front wheel air away from the frame before it disrupts downstream flow. It's a fundamentally different approach to fork design than any other production road bike currently uses, and it's visible from thirty feet away.
  3. Mariana Bottom Bracket — the deepest BB BMC has ever built on a road bike increases the frame's effective surface area around the drive side, giving engineers more geometry to work with in managing airflow through the most aerodynamically complex zone of the frame.
  4. SRAM Red AXS 2x12 with integrated power meter — full wireless electronic shifting with a 48-35T crankset, 10-33T cassette, and power meter built into the crankarm. No additional unit, no spider swap — the data is already there when you clip in.
  5. DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 65mm / 180 DICUT hubs — 65mm deep carbon wheels on DT Swiss's lightest hub platform. Ratchet EXP 36 engagement means power hits the road immediately; there's no slop in the drivetrain when you accelerate out of a corner or surge in a sprint.

Final Take

The Teammachine R 01 One is for riders who have stopped compromising. Whether that means a race where watts translate directly to position, or a long day in the saddle where aerodynamic efficiency determines how much you have left at the end — this bike was built for that rider. The Red Bull collaboration isn't marketing. The Halo Fork, the Mariana BB, the 65mm DT Swiss wheels, and the Red AXS power meter crankset are the proof. At 7.0kg, fully spec'd and ready to race, there's nothing to add and nothing to apologize for.

The RA Perspective

The Teammachine R 01 is the bike we point to when someone asks what the current ceiling of road bike engineering looks like. The Red Bull Advanced Technologies collaboration is real — the frame shapes came out of actual CFD simulation, the same tools applied to F1 car development. You can see it in the fork. The Halo's ultrawide legs don't look like anything else in the peloton, and they're not there for aesthetics. They're doing aerodynamic work that a conventional fork can't do.

The 01 Premium Carbon layup is BMC's best, and the Mariana Bottom Bracket is a genuine piece of design thinking rather than just a marketing term. The BB area is deeper than any BMC road bike before it — that depth is a tool for managing airflow, and it shows in how the bike moves through the air.

At $13,649, the spec has to be complete, and it is. SRAM Red AXS wireless throughout, a power meter built into the crankset rather than added to it, DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT wheels at 65mm with 180 DICUT hubs. The 7.0kg weight is with accessories — no tricks with the scale. Pirelli P Zero Race TLR tires come mounted tubeless out of the box.

The rider for this bike knows what they want. They're not choosing between race performance and long-ride comfort — they're accepting that this is a committed race machine and working backward from that. It descends precisely, climbs efficiently, and in a sprint it feels exactly like 7 kilograms of stiff carbon and top-end components should feel. The Tudor Pro Cycling team races on this frame. That's not a coincidence.
