The Bianchi Specialissima has long been the premier road bike for elite all-around road performance. It has finally been updated to include disc brakes while simultaneously becoming even lighter. The frame remains incredibly rigid for outstanding power transfer and high speeds despite a weight of just 750 grams. The Specialissima also does a great job of eliminating road vibrations and keeping a stable and controlled ride. The biggest change to the new frame is that the tubes are more aero focused than ever, helping it keep up with the current state of high level road cycling. This version is equipped with aSRAM Red eTap AXS groupset for elite 12-speed electronic shifting. The Bianchi Specialissima still boasts the same classic base that riders love, but with updated enhancements appropriate for the modern tour.
The frame of the Specialissima is incredibly lightweight thanks to an efficient carbon fiber construction. The frame weighs in at about 750 grams, cutting about 30 grams from the already lightweight rim brake version. This makes the Specialissima one of the premier climbers, regardless of what other bikes are on the road. In addition to this outstanding climbing ability, the carbon construction is more rigid than ever, making it a true all-around road bike that can sprint through a flat. While the Specialissima is certainly still a climber’s bike, Bianchi made the geometry and tube shape a bit more aero optimized. This version has Vision SC40 Carbon wheels to further balance aero speed and low weight. The Specialissima cuts through the wind like never before without having to sacrifice any weight, giving riders the best of both worlds.
Bianchi used their Countervail (CV) technology on the Specialissima to assure proper rider comfort and vibration dissipation throughout a long ride. Insertions of a special viscoelastic material help deal with the natural vibrations of the road that can take away from power transfer from the rider to the bike overtime. With the help of Countervail, riders can be sure that every watt they crank into the Specialissima is processed directly into power. The elimination of vibration through the frame also keeps the rider’s muscles from absorbing those vibrations, keeping them fresher for longer.
