Assos iJ.suisseOlympiakos S7 Long Sleeve Jersey Info

As sad as it is for summer to end, at least with the Assos iJ.tiburu.4 Jacket you can look forward to slipping into something so soft and insulating that you will actually find yourself eagerly anticipating those first authentically cold morning rides.

The tiburu slots in as Assos’ insulating jacket that is light and snug enough as to double for a long sleeve jersey. Using their continuously fine-tuned Assos layering system, you can either stick a light summertime baselayer on for those slightly chilly days, or climb into a more substantial baselayer like the S7 skinFoil earlyWinter to have a nice low profile outfit for colder early winter rides where you will be doing some hard pace-lining all the way. If you have travelled a long way with Assos, then you will feel comfort in knowing that the tiburu.4 is considered the spiritual successor to the elementOne, the essential jacket/jersey in our wardrobe for many, many seasons. But whereas the elementOne just made use of a basic Roubaix fabric, the tiburu.4 takes the same philosophy in how the piece should provide a race fit while combining it with some of Assos’ most advanced cool weather fabric.

Paradoxically, staying warm is all about not getting too warm. That’s why the tiburu.4 uses two types of fleecy Roubaix fabric. For the front panels and upper arms, they use their RX fabric, which you will recognize as a traditional type of fleecy Roubaix. It has a certain weight to it that keeps you well insulated while still helping to pull the moisture away from your torso. For the rear panel and the under arms, however, Assos turns to its RXQ fabric, which is lighter and more textured. The texture provides air pockets to help you retain your ideal temperature while it moves any moisture building up to the outer filaments of the fabric for quick and easy evaporation.

This does have a race cut, following along the lines of the summer Uno jersey. Snug and anatomical, it is not a jacket for sitting at the coffee shop – though you certainly could. It is meant for hard riding or even racing if you want to layer it under your team kit. And if you don’t have access to your own team support car, you can rest assured that the rear stabilizer panel design on the tiburu.4 will allow you to load your pockets and not have to worry about them sliding from one side to the other, or sagging down your backside. You will be able to fit tons of kit in the three cargo pockets and then stash things that have to stay safe like your house keys in the single right side zippered pocket.

As if the high quality is not enough of a reason to invest in Assos clothing, the styling is. This season, they are going with not only some traditional block colors, but have added a cheeky acid green that they are calling phytonGreen.  Rear reflective visibility stripes will alert drivers to your presence on those gloomy, dark days of off-season riding.  The Assos iJ.tiburu.4 Jacket will keep you on the roads long after your riding companions have retired to their indoor trainers.
