Assos Equipe RS Spring/Fall Gilet Targa Info
The Assos Equipe RS Spring/Fall Gilet Targa is a three-layer softshell vest built for the kind of racing you do in shoulder-season weather, when a morning start is cold and the afternoon isn't. Assos updated the fit on this version to sit closer to the back of the Equipe RS Jersey, tightening up the compressive, aerodynamic racingFit while cutting weight down to 188g from the previous version's 205g. The outer shell is windproof and waterproof, and a lightly brushed inner face creates a warm microclimate underneath it without adding bulk you'd notice once you're pushing pace.
A back panel built from Assos's Push Pull fabric handles breathability, pulling heat and moisture off your back as effort ramps up so the vest doesn't turn into a sauna the moment you're out of the saddle. The double-slider zipper opens from the top or the bottom, so you can vent it or reach a jersey pocket underneath without taking the whole thing off, and taped construction keeps water from working its way in along the zipper line. A stabilizer tab lets you run the zipper one-handed with gloves on, which matters more than it sounds like on a cold descent. The hem, armholes, and collar are all finished with a raw cut that trims weight, adds stretch, and lets the vest layer cleanly over a jersey without binding at the edges. A reflective strip down the center of the back adds a bit of visibility for early starts or rides that run past dusk.
Assos built this to be packed into a jersey pocket for rides where the forecast might turn, or layered over a thermal spring/fall jersey when the day starts cold and wet from the gun. It's a vest for riders training or racing through spring and fall who want one piece that handles a cold start and a warm finish without stopping to peel off layers halfway through.
