Assos designed the Equipe RS Rain Jacket after the wild success of their sturmPrinz. It’s lighter, packs smaller, and is more breathable. They worked with the best of the sturmPrinz in mind as well as the feedback of the BMC racing team.

This jacket they consider three-season protection. Spring, summer, and fall. They see the sturmPrinz as more wintery, though the RS will work in winter as well, just with more underneath. The reason for the distinction is because of how they were able to make this jacket. The primary material is Schloss Tex, a three-layer waterproof/breathable textile coated with a durable water repellant finish that is about half the weight of what they worked with in the sturmPrinz. It’s also designed to be rustle-free, so you won’t hear it snapping in the wind.

The taped seams at the wrist and collar are a carryover. So, too, the elastic at the waist, and the slot pockets in back, which aren’t so much as pockets, but covered openings that allow you to access your jersey pockets underneath.

They utilize their racingFit for the silhouette. It’s a slim fit that works well when on the hoods or drops, with minimal seams.

There’s a reflective, waterproof reflective stripe all the way down the back. It looks black in natural light but turns a bright silver when car lights hit it.
