Argon 18 Electron Pro TKO Sprint Frameset Info

The Argon 18 Electron Pro TKO Sprint Frameset is the current generation of a track sprint platform with a consistent Olympic presence. Argon 18 is a Montreal-based brand with a focused track racing pedigree, and the Electron Pro is the bike they've refined across multiple Olympic cycles. TKO stands for Tokyo — this generation was developed specifically for the Tokyo Games, building on the Rio version with targeted improvements in aerodynamics and stiffness. This is not a track frame adapted from road geometry or designed for recreational velodrome riding. It is built at the level where hundredths of a second decide the result.

Development of the Electron Pro TKO involved more than 4,500 hours of engineering across a formal partnership between Argon 18, Cycling Australia, Zipp, Monash University, and the University of Adelaide. That combination brought structured academic and aerodynamic research methodology to the design process — computational modeling, wind tunnel analysis, and structured on-track validation. The outcome is a frame with a reworked aero front profile and optimized tube shapes, delivering a 2% stiffness increase at the bottom bracket and 9% torsional stiffness increase over the Rio generation. The Pro Level Carbon Layup is Argon 18's highest-specification construction, applied to both the frame and fork. The bottom bracket is BSA English threaded — serviceable and compatible with a wide range of track crankset options.

There are two configurations of the Electron Pro TKO: the Sprint and the Pursuit. They differ in fork offset and geometry tuning. The Sprint is set up for the explosive power demands of events like keirin, match sprint, and team sprint — events where the rider goes from a standing start or slow roll to maximum velocity in the shortest possible time. If sprint events are the focus, this is the correct frameset.

Track Geometry

The Electron Pro TKO Sprint runs geometry that is single-purpose and unapologetic about it. The seat tube angle is 76 degrees across all sizes — steep enough to position the rider directly over the pedals and load the hip and quad for maximum sprint power transfer. The head tube angle is 72.7 degrees, consistent across the full size range, giving the front end a quick, precise feel at speed. Chainstay length is 375mm across every size — extremely short, generating the instantaneous rear-wheel response a sprint rider needs when standing to accelerate. There is no softening of these numbers toward versatility or all-day comfort. Stack ranges from 461mm (XS) to 654mm (L) at RA Cycles, giving meaningful fit range within a geometry that stays uncompromisingly track-specific.

Argon Oneness Cockpit System

The Electron Pro TKO Sprint uses Argon 18's Oneness cockpit system — an integrated platform combining precise positioning, high structural stiffness, and travel-friendly assembly. The system offers approximately 30 different configuration options for stack and reach, allowing the rider to arrive at a precise, UCI-legal sprint position. The Sprint handlebar — Argon 18's dedicated sprint bar with drop geometry suited to the event's demands — is sold separately and is not included with this frameset. It is not optional; it is required to complete the cockpit. The Oneness system's design allows for rapid disassembly, relevant for riders transporting competition bikes between events.

What's Included

The frameset includes the Electron Pro TKO Sprint frame, Pro Level Carbon fork, headset (MR055A+MR054 integrated), and the proprietary Argon 18 Electron Pro TKO Sprint seatpost. A sprint handlebar, track crankset, fixed gear cog, and wheels are required separately to complete the build. Available in Frozen Black in sizes XS through L at RA Cycles.

The Electron Pro TKO Sprint is a purpose-built competition frameset for experienced track riders who know their position, their events, and what Olympic-caliber engineering looks like. Argon 18 remains one of the few brands actively developing track platforms at this level — this frameset is the current expression of that work.

The RA Perspective

The Electron Pro TKO Sprint is a specialized purchase — there's no pretense otherwise. This is a frameset for an experienced track rider who knows exactly what events they're building toward and has a position dialed well enough to transfer it to a track bike. For that customer, it's one of the most legitimate track sprint platforms available at retail, developed at Olympic level and used by national track programs.

The thing we'd flag first is the frameset nature of this purchase. The sprint handlebar is sold separately — it's not optional, it's required. A track crankset, fixed sprocket, and wheels all need to be sourced separately as well. For a rider building from scratch, budget accordingly. For a rider upgrading from an existing track build who can carry components over, the frameset cost makes more sense in context.

The geometry is uncompromising. 76 degrees seat tube, 72.7 head tube, 375mm chainstays — that's a position and handling character designed for explosive sprint efforts. Riders transitioning from road or endurance geometry need to respect what that means. A proper track fit appointment before the build is worth the time.

Argon 18 is a Montreal brand with real Olympic track racing credentials. The TKO development partnership with Cycling Australia, Monash University, and the University of Adelaide isn't a marketing footnote — it's how the bike was actually made. For riders competing at the national or elite level, or working toward that, this is the frame worth building around.
