Argon 18 - RA Cycles

Argon 18

Argon 18 was built by a racer, for racers. Gervais Rioux — over 150 victories as a Canadian road cyclist, two Commonwealth Games, and the 1988 Seoul Olympics — founded the brand in Montreal in 1989, and that racing mindset has shaped every bike the company has built since. The name comes from argon, element number 18 on the periodic table.

At RA Cycles, the Argon 18 collection spans four disciplines: the E-119 Tri+ and E-117 for triathlon, the Krypton for road, the Electron Pro TKO and RIO for track pursuit and sprint, and the Dark Matter and Subito for gravel. Prices run from $4,999 to $14,999 — a range built almost entirely around high-performance, competition-ready bikes.

About Argon 18

Argon 18 was founded in 1989 by Gervais Rioux in Montreal, Quebec — a former Canadian road racer whose career spanned the Commonwealth Games and a berth at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Rioux built his first carbon frames in 2001, and in 2008 introduced the E-114 — a triathlon bike with the market’s first integrated cockpit, launching Argon 18’s “ONEness” philosophy of fully unified front-end systems. That same year, Argon 18-sponsored athletes won three world championships across Ironman 70.3 and ITU long-distance events. In 2015, the brand made its Tour de France debut with Team Bora–Argon 18, and today serves as the official bike of Cycling Canada — a partnership extended through the LA 2028 Olympic Games. RA Cycles stocks the full current Argon 18 lineup. Triathlon is the heart of the collection: the E-119 Tri+ is the flagship, available from $10,000 up to $14,999 in Red AXS trim, while the E-117 offers the same integrated geometry at a more accessible entry point from $6,699. On the road side, the Krypton runs from $5,299 to $13,000 for the Pro Red AXS build. The Electron Pro TKO and RIO framesets cover track pursuit and sprint — built to the same carbon standards as the triathlon range. For gravel, the Dark Matter and Subito round out the lineup from $4,999.
