Cervelo P5 Ultegra Di2 Bike Info
The Cervelo P5 Ultegra Di2 Bike is a triathlon and time trial bike built around one job: getting you from the start to the finish as quickly as possible. Cervelo describes the P5 as a contre la montre catalyst, and the platform has the résumé to back that up. The company credits the P5 as a key part of Team Jumbo-Visma's Giro d'Italia and Tour de France wins in 2023, and it is equally at home on an Ironman course. This Ultegra Di2 build is the entry point to the P5 range, and it arrives with a power meter, deep carbon wheels and storage already fitted.
A Front End Built for Fit
A fast triathlon bike is only fast if you can hold the position, and most of the P5's updates go toward making that easier. The one-piece front end, first used on Cervelo's S5, is simpler to assemble and adjust than a multi-part cockpit. Stack is adjustable by up to 40mm, and the basebar sits 10mm lower than before to reduce frontal area. The EX16 extensions adjust through 0 to 30 degrees of tilt, so you can tune the position as your flexibility, fitness and race distance change. Cervelo also offers an online size and setup calculator that takes your arm pad stack, reach and saddle height and returns compatible frame sizes. For this generation the P5 adds a size 61 for taller riders, bringing the range to six sizes from 48 to 61.
The frame is carbon, paired with Cervelo's all-carbon bayonet P5 fork and an SP23 carbon seatpost. Disc brakes with Shimano CL800 Centerlock rotors handle stopping, and the Dura-Ace Di2 levers and bar end shifters let you shift from either the base bar or the extensions. In the aero tuck, that matters more than almost any other detail.
Drivetrain, Wheels and Tires
Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8150 electronic shifting runs a 12-speed Ultegra R8100 cassette (11-30) and a 52/36 crankset. That gearing suits a bike that spends most of its time at speed on rolling to flat courses, with enough range at the low end for a steep pitch. The crankset includes a 4iiii Precision Pro GEN3+ dual-sided power meter, which is a useful inclusion if you pace by watts, since the bike is ready to record from the first ride.
Reserve 77 front and 88 rear wheels bring carbon depth where it counts, built on DT Swiss 240 hubs and set up tubeless-compatible. They come fitted with Vittoria Corsa Pro TLR G2.0 tires in 29mm. Cervelo says the P5 was designed with room for tires up to 34mm on wide wheels, and it points to wider setups as a way to improve aerodynamics and reduce rolling resistance. That gives you room to experiment with pressure and tire width on rough or chip-seal courses without changing frames.
Built for Long Days
Triathletes know the run is often decided by what you managed to eat and drink on the bike. Cervelo includes an aero water bottle with cage, a rear hydration mount, the P5 stem storage, a Smartpak top tube storage bag and a Profile Design computer mount. The kit is there to carry fuel, tools and a head unit without bolting on aftermarket pieces that disturb the airflow around the frame. The saddle is a Fizik Transiro Aeris, a triathlon-specific design. Pedals are not included, so you can fit your own system.
The P5 Ultegra Di2 suits an age-group triathlete or time trialist who wants a current-generation frame, electronic shifting and a power meter without moving up to the Dura-Ace or SRAM Red builds. It rewards a proper fit, and with the adjustability Cervelo has built into the front end, you can refine that fit over time.
