Cervelo was founded in Montreal in 1995 by engineers Gérard Vroomen and Phil White, who met at McGill University while Vroomen was developing a time trial bike using wind tunnel data and CFD analysis — tools most of the industry dismissed as unnecessary at the time. No existing manufacturer would build it, so they built it themselves. That origin story runs through every Cervelo since: a data-first, aerodynamics-led approach to design that has made the brand a fixture at the highest levels of professional racing. Cervelo now supplies Team Visma | Lease a Bike, which made history in 2023 by winning the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España in a single season.
RA Cycles stocks the complete current Cervelo lineup. The S5 is Cervelo's aero road platform, built around proprietary tube shapes and a fully integrated cockpit. The R5 is the lightweight option — designed for climbing and days where total weight matters more than aerodynamics. The Caledonia-5 takes a more relaxed geometry with wider tire clearance, making it equally at home on long endurance rides and mixed surfaces. The Aspero-5 is Cervelo's dedicated gravel platform. The P5 rounds out the range as one of the most aerodynamically refined triathlon and time trial bikes available — favored at the professional level for the same reasons it performs for age-groupers and long-course triathletes. All complete bikes are built with electronic groupsets and start at $10,100.
