Shimano RT-MT900 Rotor Info
The Shimano RT-MT900 Rotor sits at the top of Shimano's rotor lineup — built from an ice-technology two-piece construction that bonds aluminum to stainless steel to pull heat away from the braking surface faster than a single-material rotor can. The result is more consistent braking on long descents and repeated hard stops, where rotor temperature is the thing standing between you and reliable modulation.
A heat-dissipating paint on the exposed aluminum layers is designed to lower rotor temperatures by up to 20°C compared to conventional designs — a measurable difference when you're pushing hard on technical trail or loaded endurance rides. The four size options cover a wide range of use cases: the 140mm is aimed at cross-country riders where every gram matters, while the 160mm, 180mm, and 203mm step up progressively for trail riding, aggressive enduro, and heavy-load applications where thermal management and raw stopping power take priority. All four use centerlock attachment and are compatible with Shimano disc brake calipers across XTR, XT, and 12-speed road groups.
