Shimano 10-Speed Chain Pins Info
The Shimano 10-Speed Chain Pins are the OEM connecting pins for joining or repairing Shimano 10-speed chains. Unlike quick links, Shimano's traditional press-in pin system requires a chain tool to drive the pin through the outer plates — the pin is inserted from the outside, driven until the guide tip breaks off flush, and locked permanently in place. When done correctly, a properly installed chain pin creates a joint as strong and smooth-shifting as any other link in the chain.
These pins are compatible with all Shimano 10-speed chains with the exception of the original first-generation Dura-Ace CN-7800. Each pin features a distinctive two-line marking on the narrow guide end for easy identification and correct orientation during installation. Sold as a pack of three, they're worth keeping in your kit bag for roadside repairs and in the workshop for chain builds. One important installation note: never reuse a link where a pin has already been driven out — always work with fresh outer plates when reinstalling a pin to ensure a secure joint.
