OPEN Bikes is the kind of brand that happens when two people who've built some of the most successful cycling companies in the world decide to walk away and start over — smaller, quieter, and entirely focused on the bikes. Co-founders Andy Kessler and Gerard Vroomen brought deep experience from BMC and Cervélo to a deliberate decision: stay small. No sponsorships. No marketing. No flashy offices. Just product development and taking care of customers.

The result is a tight lineup of Swiss-engineered framesets and complete bikes that have become reference points in gravel riding. The U.P. and U.P.PER. 2.0 handle both smooth roads and rough gravel with larger tire clearance than most road-adjacent frames allow. The WI.DE. pushes that further for true adventure riding. The MIN.D. is their road bike — stripped back, precise, and built with the same clarity of purpose as everything else in the line.

About OPEN Bikes

OPEN was founded by Andy Kessler and Gerard Vroomen — two veterans whose careers helped define modern road and gravel cycling. Andy ran BMC Switzerland for seven years before joining Cervélo as international sales director. Gerard had co-founded Cervélo, building it into a brand that won the Tour de France, World Championships, Ironman Hawaii, and the Olympic road race before the company reached 30,000 bikes per year. Both left to build something different. The mandate was straightforward: work hard to stay small.
