OPEN Bicycles
OPEN Bicycles was founded in 2012 by Gerard Vroomen — co-founder of Cervélo — and Andy Kessler, former CEO of BMC Switzerland, with a straightforward premise: build the bikes they wanted to ride without the constraints of a large organization. Based in Basel, Switzerland, OPEN became one of the defining forces in the gravel bike revolution, starting with the original U.P. at a time when serious gravel-specific geometry was still a new idea.
The RA Cycles collection centers on OPEN's custom bike program — the U.P. and U.P.PER. 2.0 platforms in Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS, and Campagnolo configurations, alongside the flagship U.P.PER. CONCE.PT chassis. Framesets are also available for riders who prefer to build their own: the WI.DE. for wide-tire adventure riding, the MIN.D. for a stripped-down 1x build, and the ONE+. Frame-specific parts and accessories round out the range.

About OPEN Bicycles
OPEN was founded in January 2012 by Gerard Vroomen and Andy Kessler in Basel, Switzerland. Vroomen had co-founded Cervélo and served as its lead designer; Kessler had spent his career running cycling brands including BMC Switzerland. Together they built a small, focused operation that could move faster and with more intent than larger manufacturers. OPEN became one of the pioneers of purpose-built gravel geometry — the original U.P. appeared at a time when gravel bikes were still largely cyclocross frames adapted for rougher roads, and its extended tire clearance and mountain bike-influenced design helped define what the category became. RA Cycles offers OPEN's full range of current frames and builds.
