Miche traces its roots to 1919, when Augusto and Ferdinando Michelin established Ciclo Piave in Santa Lucia di Piave, Italy — initially building complete bicycles and motorcycles. After the brothers divided their business interests in 1936, Ferdinando founded a new manufacturing operation in Conegliano, which became the Ferdinando Michelin Conegliano (F.M.C.) corporation in 1948. That company dedicated itself to bicycle components — and notably produced the industry’s first quick-release mechanism for bicycle wheels. Over a century later, Miche continues to design and manufacture components at its factory in San Vendemiano, in the Treviso province of northern Italy.
