Lake Cycling Shoes

Lake Cycling has been building cycling-specific shoes since 1982 — and the brand has spent those decades solving problems most others still haven't fully addressed. The first foam insole designed for cycling, the first wicking liner, the first winter cycling boot, the first heat-moldable carbon sole: nearly every standard feature in performance cycling footwear today traces back to something Lake developed first. That engineering foundation is visible in every current model through proprietary lasts built to match a real range of foot shapes, and fit options — regular, wide, narrow, and women's-specific — that few brands offer with the same depth.

RA Cycles carries the full Lake lineup across road, mountain, and triathlon. The CX series covers road riding from the accessible CX190 through the performance-focused CX239 and CX302, up to the flagship CX400 and CX403. The MX series handles mountain, gravel, and cross-country use — the MX242 and MX333-X at the top of the range, the MX169 and MX201 for trail and general off-road riding. The TX224 is built specifically for triathlon, with a quick-entry design and drainage optimized for transition speed.

Lake Cycling Shoes: Construction, Fit & the Full Lineup

Lake is a Danish brand that sources leather from some of the most respected tanneries in the industry — ECCO, Helcor, and Pittards — and integrates Carbitex OmniFlex carbon fiber textile into the upper for lateral stiffness without restricting natural foot movement. Clarino microfiber appears in the lightweight road models for durability and easy care; Helcor leather carries the MX series for weather resistance on the trail. Dual BOA Li2 closures allow independent zone adjustment across the forefoot and instep, and heat-moldable construction in select models lets the shoe conform to your exact foot shape over time.

Lake's handmade CFC 3K carbon fiber sole comes in under 200 grams in a size 44 — among the lightest in the category. The double sole system on the CX332 adds a semi-flexible fiberglass inner platform at the ball of the foot, allowing some natural flex at toe-off while the outer carbon layer stays rigid for power transfer. Most models are available in regular, wide, and narrow lasts, with women's-specific lasts across both road and mountain categories.
