HED

HED built the modern aero wheel. Steve Hed engineered one of the first practical deep-section disc wheels for triathletes out of a garage in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1984, and the brand has been at the center of fast wheel design ever since. At RA Cycles, the full HED lineup runs from the Vanquish series — available in V45, V62, and V84 rim depths for road and triathlon — to the Jet line covering road racing, time trials, and track, to the Stillwater G50 for gravel. Both rim brake and disc brake options are available across the range. All HED carbon rims are designed and manufactured in-house in Roseville, Minnesota, a distinction that sets the brand apart in a market full of offshore production.

About HED Cycling

HED Cycling was founded in 1984 by Steve Hed in St. Paul, Minnesota, after he recognized that triathletes and time trialists had no access to serious aerodynamic wheel equipment. His early disc wheel designs helped establish the category, and HED has continued to shape it — Gwen Jorgensen won the 2016 Rio Olympic triathlon gold on HED wheels, and at the 2022 Ironman World Championships, eight professional triathletes competed on HED Jet 180s, including the bike course record holder. Steve Hed passed away in 2014; his wife Anne Hed became CEO and continues to lead the family business, with son Andrew Hed now part of the team. The RA Cycles HED selection spans the full current lineup. The Vanquish series offers V45, V62, and V84 rim depths in disc brake configurations — deep-section aero wheels built for road racing and triathlon. The Jet family covers the RC4, RC6, and RC9 in both rim brake and disc brake, plus the 90mm Jet 180 purpose-built for time trials and the TC4 and TC6 track wheelsets. The Stillwater G50 brings HED’s carbon expertise to gravel with a wider, 50mm-deep rim designed for mixed-surface speed. Prices run from $200 for individual rims to $2,650 for the flagship Vanquish V84 Pro wheelset.
