Zipp Service Course SL-70 Handlebar Info
The Service Course SL line is where Zipp puts their pro-level handlebars. The SL-70 is the shortest reach of the group, and what Zipp believes to be a bike fitter’s dream, as it allows for comfort in every hand position regardless of the rider’s size and shape.
Service Course SL bars are fabricated out of 7050 aluminum. This material means they can make a bar tough and stiff and weigh only 250g in the 42cm width (Zipp measures center-to-center from the brake perch).
The 70 in the name refers to the reach. 70mm. The drop is 128mm. Between the two is a ten-degree ramp angle, making it easy to clamp your brake levers high enough that you have a nearly flat shelf between the tops and the hoods, but the levers themselves are close enough to the drops that they’re easy to reach.
The drops themselves have a semi-ergo shape. Slightly flattened, but still with a curve close to a classic bend. Starting at the middle of the drops, the bars feature a four-degree outward sweep, which puts your wrists at a comfortable angle. This results in both riding longer more comfortably in the drops as well as feeling more stable and powerful when getting out of the saddle.
The top front face of the bars is gently flattened for easy cable routing and great comfort when holding the tops.
As with all of Zipp’s bars, the clamp diameter is 31.8mm. The center section is wide enough that there’s room to clamp on aero extensions and Zipp is comfortable with you doing so.
The Zipp Service Course SL-70 Handlebar is easy to fit to everyone thanks to a shape that allows for the tops, hoods, and drops to be close and comfy.
