Hammerhead
Hammerhead was founded in 2013 in Chicago by two cyclists who built the Karoo after finding that existing bike computers weren't meeting riders' actual needs. The company started from scratch — an Android-based GPS cycling computer with a smartphone-quality touchscreen, turn-by-turn routing that recalculates intelligently, and an interface that updates over time like any modern device. SRAM acquired Hammerhead in 2021, adding native AXS drivetrain integration while development of the Karoo platform continued on its own terms. RA Cycles carries the Hammerhead Karoo GPS bike computer.
The Karoo's 3.2-inch Corning Gorilla Glass touchscreen runs at 292 pixels per inch — the highest resolution of any current cycling computer — with pinch-to-zoom mapping and full compatibility with Strava, Komoot, TrainingPeaks, Ride With GPS, and TrainerRoad. Battery life is rated at 35+ hours with IP67 waterproofing.
