Cervelo Aspero-5 GRX Di2 1 Bike is Cervelo's aero gravel race bike, built by a company that's spent decades leading road aerodynamics and pointed that same expertise at gravel racing. Cervelo says the Aspero-5 is 37 watts faster than its predecessor and 34 watts faster than its nearest competitor, with the aero handlebar and stem alone accounting for roughly 6 watts of that. The bike made its race debut under UCI Gravel World Champion Marianne Vos, who won the rainbow jersey on it. This build pairs the Aspero-5 frame with Shimano's wireless GRX Di2 groupset, priced at $8,850.
The frame carries Cervelo's aero shaping down into details that matter for gravel racing specifically: clearance for 45mm tires, downtube storage for tools or a flat kit, and a threaded T47 bottom bracket rather than a press-fit design that can creak or wear over a season of rough roads. Cervelo built the Aspero-5 to line up on the start line ready to race, and the frame reflects that — this isn't a bikepacking rig with rack mounts bolted on, it's a race bike that happens to run wide tires and long distances well.
The drivetrain runs Shimano's GRX Di2 electronic shifting through a single Wolf Tooth 48t Aero chainring on a GRX crank with an integrated 4iiii power meter, paired with a Shimano XTR 10-51, 12-speed cassette — a mountain bike cassette rather than a gravel-specific one, giving this build a wider gear range than a standard 1x gravel setup while keeping the shifting and brake feel of Shimano's gravel-specific levers. A Ceramic Speed SL bottom bracket keeps friction low, and GRX hydraulic disc brakes on Centerlock rotors provide consistent stopping power across loose and wet gravel surfaces where braking traction changes constantly.
Wheels are Reserve's 48mm front and 53mm rear GR wheelset, a gravel-specific aero profile built on DT Swiss 350 hubs and tubeless compatible, wrapped in Vittoria Corsa Pro Control tires in a 700x42 tubeless width that takes advantage of the frame's tire clearance without maxing it out. Cervelo's own carbon handlebar, stem, and seatpost keep the front end in line with the aero intent of the rest of the bike, and a Fizik Vento Argo X3 saddle rounds out a race-oriented riding position rather than a relaxed all-day setup.
Storage comes built into the spec rather than bolted on afterward: in-frame storage rolls for a flat kit and inner tube, a Cervelo Smartpak top tube bag, and front and rear accessory mounts, along with two Arundel carbon bottle cages for long stages between aid stations. This is a bike for a rider racing gravel events who wants aero performance without giving up the tire clearance and durability gravel racing demands.
