The Bont Riot Shoe - Wide starts where most road shoes end: with a design that actually accommodates the shape of your foot. Built on Bont's anatomically-correct last in a wide fit, the Riot pairs a carbon composite platform with the brand's "slide and ride" construction method and dual-dial BOA® closure — delivering the core elements of Bont's design philosophy at a price that makes the upgrade easy to justify.

The foundation is a carbon composite base with lowered carbon mid and forefoot shaping, bringing the foot closer to the pedal and distributing force more evenly across the metatarsals. Bont's 4.8mm stack height — one of the lowest in road cycling — reduces the mechanical distance between your foot and the pedal axle, contributing to more efficient pedal strokes and better lateral stability through the full rotation. At 235g for a size 42 (weighed), the Riot is a light shoe for its category and price point. The cleat mount uses carbon steel t-nut hardware in a standard 3-hole configuration, with replaceable toe and heel guards protecting the sole during off-bike walking.

The Microfiber upper is vented for breathability and lined with a honeycomb fabric and lightweight padding that keeps the fit comfortable across long days in the saddle. Closure is handled by a dual-dial BOA® L6 Fit System — single-direction adjustability at two independent points across the forefoot and midfoot, backed by BOA's lifetime guarantee on dials and laces. The RA Perspective

The Riot is a shoe we recommend often to riders who come in saying they've had trouble with hot foot, numbness, or just uncomfortable road shoes in general. Nine times out of ten, the issue is a too-narrow last — and that's exactly what the Riot Wide addresses. The wide fit combined with Bont's genuine anatomical forefoot shaping gives the toes and metatarsals the room they need, and most riders feel the difference on the first long ride.

What we appreciate about the Riot is that it doesn't strip out the things that actually matter to hit the price point. You still get a carbon composite base, heat molding capability, a dual-dial BOA® closure, and that 4.8mm stack height — one of the lowest in the category, and something you'll notice if you've been riding a thicker sole for years. The closer connection to the pedal feels more dialed almost immediately.

The BOA® L6 dials are a step down from the Li2 system on the Vaypor SL — single-direction adjustment rather than micro-adjustable in both directions — but for most riders that distinction rarely comes up in daily use. Where the Riot differs from the Vaypor SL more meaningfully is the Microfiber upper, which has slightly more give than the Durolite. For long sportives, gran fondos, or riders who spend time on and off the bike, that compliance is actually a feature.
