The Continental Grand Prix Urban Tire was developed in collaboration with Schindelhauer Bikes to bridge the gap between road performance and city durability — a tire that rolls fast on tarmac but doesn't buckle when the road turns rough or broken. The BlackChili compound delivers a compound tuned for low rolling resistance without giving up grip, while a PolyX Breaker casing — a material drawn from automotive tire construction — adds a layer of cut and puncture resistance suited to the unpredictability of urban riding. An extremely resistant polyester fiber reinforcement works alongside the breaker to resist punctures without adding drag you'd feel on longer commutes.

The tread pattern is road-oriented, which keeps the tire quick on smooth surfaces, but the 700x35 width gives you enough volume to absorb the kind of road imperfections — rail tracks, broken asphalt, pothole edges — that narrow road tires handle poorly. This tire won a German Design Award, recognition of its design intent as much as its aesthetics.
