Colnago C72 Custom Road Bikes

The Colnago C72 is the latest chapter in the most storied C Series lineage in road cycling. The name marks 72 years since Ernesto Colnago opened his workshop in Cambiago, Italy in 1954 — the same town where every C Series frame is still handbuilt today. Production is capped at 3,000 frames per year, making it one of the most deliberately limited flagship road bikes available.

Every C72 we build is configured to order. Choose your groupset — Shimano Dura-Ace Di2, Campagnolo Super Record WRL, or SRAM Red AXS — and we spec the build from there. RA Cycles has been an authorized Colnago dealer since 1976, and our team builds these bikes to the same standard as the racers who've won on them.

What separates the C72 from the C68 it replaces: 35mm tire clearance (up from 30mm), a revised CC.02 integrated cockpit — 15g lighter than the CC.01, with a new curve and flare for a more aggressive position — and updated geometry with a higher stack-to-reach ratio and steeper steering angle. The integrated downtube storage box carries a mini ratchet wrench, CO₂ cartridge, and TPU tube, all factored into the published frame weight. The frame itself weighs 895 grams in a size 485 — 30g lighter than the C68.

About the Colnago C72

The "C" in C Series stands for Colnago, Cambiago, Carbon, and Class. Each model number counts the years from 1954 to the year of launch: the C35 debuted in 1989, the C40 in 1994, the C64 in 2018, the C68 in 2022, and the C72 in 2026. The seven-tube lugged construction — carbon tubes bonded into distinct lugs — is how Colnago has built its flagship frames since the C40, allowing engineers to specify carbon layup and wall thickness independently in each tube rather than designing around the constraints of monocoque molding.

Tadej Pogačar has raced Colnago to four Tour de France victories, the Giro d'Italia, five consecutive Il Lombardia titles, two Tours of Flanders, three Liège–Bastogne–Liège, and two World Championships. The C72 is the platform that carries that record forward. RA Cycles has been an authorized Colnago dealer since 1976 — longer than most bike shops have existed — and we source and build every C72 directly through Colnago's authorized channel.
