Cannondale Bicycles

Cannondale Bicycles started above a pickle factory in Connecticut — not the most glamorous origin story, but an accurate one. What Joe Montgomery built there in 1971 eventually became one of the most technically adventurous brands in cycling: the company that pioneered oversized aluminum tubing, invented the Lefty single-sided fork, and dominated mountain bike world championships through the 1990s.

At RA Cycles, the Cannondale collection spans road, mountain, gravel, and e-bikes across 83 products. The SuperSix EVO LAB71 sits at the top — Cannondale's hand-built carbon race platform in builds up to $15,000. Below it: the Synapse for endurance road riding, the CAAD13 in aluminum, the Habit for trail, the Scalpel HT for XC, the SuperX for gravel, and the Moterra Neo for electric mountain biking.

About Cannondale

Cannondale was founded in 1971 by Joe Montgomery in Georgetown, Connecticut — in a loft above a pickle factory, across from the Cannon railroad line where a display cannon labeled “Dale” gave the company its name. Montgomery pivoted from camping gear to bikes in the early 1980s, betting that aluminum frames could undercut steel on weight. The first aluminum road bike came in 1983, the first mountain bike in 1984. From there, Cannondale built one of the most decorated programs in MTB history — the Volvo/Cannondale team won 11 world championship gold medals from 1994 onward — while introducing the Lefty single-sided fork and HeadShok suspension along the way. RA Cycles carries the complete current Cannondale lineup across five disciplines. On the road side, the SuperSix EVO runs from the carbon EVO Carbon 4 at $2,999 up to the hand-built LAB71 at $15,000, with EF Pro Cycling team replica builds in between. The Synapse Carbon covers endurance road riding, and the CAAD13 brings Cannondale’s aluminum legacy to a more accessible price. For trail and all-mountain riding, the Habit series spans $2,799 to $7,999. The SuperX Carbon handles gravel, and the Moterra Neo Carbon covers electric mountain biking.
