Campagnolo's founding story is one of cycling's best-documented: in the late 1920s, Tullio Campagnolo was racing in the Dolomites when frozen wing nuts on his rear wheel cost him the race. He went home and invented the quick-release skewer, patenting it in 1930 and establishing Campagnolo SRL in Vicenza in 1933. By 1949 the Gran Sport parallelogram rear derailleur had arrived — the mechanical architecture that every derailleur manufacturer still uses today. Campagnolo also established the "gruppo" concept: matched drivetrain components designed as a coordinated system rather than individual parts. The bikes of Fausto Coppi, Eddy Merckx, and Bernard Hinault all ran Campagnolo at their peaks. Visit Campagnolo's official website for the full brand history.
RA Cycles carries Campagnolo across two main areas. The Bora Ultra WTO wheelset — available in 35mm, 45mm, and 60mm rim depths with disc brake and the 2WF C23 rim profile — represents the current flagship road wheel. The Bora X offers a more accessible entry into the carbon wheel range. On the components side, the Super Record 13-speed WRL and Super Record X wireless lines cover everything from cranksets and derailleurs to cassettes and brake levers, with integrated power meter options available on cranksets. Track components include the Ghibli 0.9 and Pista Carbon wheels for velodrome use.
