BMC Bikes

The BMC Teammachine SLR was the bike Cadel Evans rode to win the 2011 Tour de France — the clearest proof of what Andy Rihs set out to build when he acquired the Swiss brand in 2000 and established the Impec R&D Lab in Grenchen, a town better known for making luxury watches. At RA Cycles, the BMC collection spans every discipline the brand engineers for: the Teammachine SLR and Teammachine R for road racing, the Roadmachine for endurance, the Speedmachine and Timemachine for triathlon, the Kaius and URS for gravel, and the Trackmachine for track. Complete builds run from $3,149 to $23,000, with framesets available across the major road, triathlon, and track platforms.

About BMC Switzerland

BMC was founded in 1986 by Bob Bigelow in Switzerland and reincorporated in Grenchen in 1994. When Andy Rihs — owner of hearing aid company Phonak — acquired BMC in 2000, he had a specific goal: build the Porsche of race bikes. He invested in the Impec Advanced R&D Lab in Grenchen, a town whose watchmaking heritage made precision engineering a cultural default. The result was a series of race machines that culminated in Cadel Evans’ 2011 Tour de France victory aboard the Teammachine SLR — the brand’s defining moment. The Teammachine R, BMC’s current road race platform, was developed in collaboration with Red Bull, bringing motorsport-level aerodynamic analysis to the design process. RA Cycles carries the full BMC lineup across road, triathlon, gravel, and track. The Teammachine SLR and Teammachine R are the road race platforms, spanning $3,149 to $14,999 across a wide range of build specs including Shimano, SRAM, and Campagnolo groupsets. The Roadmachine covers endurance road riding. On the triathlon side, the Speedmachine 01 runs from $5,999 to $15,499, with the Speedmachine 00 LTD at $23,000 and the Timemachine MPC frameset at $21,299. The Kaius and URS handle gravel, and the Trackmachine brings BMC’s precision to the velodrome.
