Arundel Bicycle Company was formed in 2000 in Fort Worth, Texas, after a trip to the Milan bike show convinced its founders they could design better cycling accessories than what they'd seen on the show floor. The first product — the Dave-O carbon cage, named against its designer's wishes — was sketched on paper during the flight home. The first 500 were hand-built by Dave himself in a Fort Worth carbon plant that also produced parts for the Space Shuttle and Joint Strike Fighter. They lost money on every one, found manufacturing partners who could actually scale it, and those cages eventually made it to the Tour de France.
