3T Wheels

3T has been building precision cycling components since 1961 — starting with handlebars for Italian professional riders in Turin, and evolving over six decades into a full-line brand producing cockpits, wheels, and complete bikes. The Discus wheel line reflects the same engineering approach that made 3T components a fixture on European pelotons for generations: deliberate design decisions backed by aerodynamic research. RA Cycles carries 3T's Discus wheelset family across road and gravel disciplines, including the Discus 45|40 LTD, Discus Plus I28 LTD, and Discus C35 and C60 Team clincher options.

The defining characteristic of the Discus line is the NoseTail rim profile — a blunt-section design developed with aero expert Dave Kennedy that performs consistently across typical wind angles, paired with wide internal widths that improve tire shape and cornering stability. The range covers road clincher setups and tubeless-ready gravel configurations built around wide tires.

About 3T Wheels

3T was founded in 1961 in Turin, Italy by Mario Dedioniggi — the name originally stood for Tecnologia del Tubo Torino (Turin Tube Technology). The brand built its reputation supplying handlebars and cockpit components to professional European teams, pioneering lightweight construction with 7075 Ergal aluminum alloy. In 2015, Gerard Vroomen — co-founder of Cervélo — joined as co-owner and drove 3T into new product territory: the Exploro (among the first purpose-built gravel bikes manufactured at scale) and the Discus wheel line. The Discus line is built around the NoseTail rim profile — a blunt aero section that produces consistent aerodynamic performance across a range of wind angles rather than optimizing for a single narrow condition. The Discus 45|40 LTD is a tubeless gravel wheelset with a 45mm deep, 40mm wide rim designed for 35-40mm tires, with a 29mm internal width and Carbon-Ti hubs. The Discus Plus I28 LTD is a 650b tubeless wheelset for wider tire setups (47-60mm) with 3T's GW Bombproof hubs and hookless rim construction for easier tire installation. The C35 and C60 Team clincher wheelsets round out the road options, with depths suited to all-round and aero-focused riding respectively.
