Zipp Tangente Butyl Inner Tube - 700c Info
Zipp’s engineers never rest in the pursuit of speed. This includes lowly inner tubes. Their Tangente Butyl Inner Tube is more than you’d expect from a tube, but exactly what you’d expect from Zipp.
They wanted to improve stability for spinning wheels. An issue with achieving that is balance-adding weight in one spot can make the wheel spin erratically at high speeds. So they replaced the traditional brass valve with aluminum. In the pursuit of simplicity, they wanted to make one length valve that could be used on all their wheels. So they came up with a length of 37mm, and topped it with a removable valve core. Now, if you have traditional box section rims, or even a shallow-dish carbon wheel, you don’t need an extender, but once you get into the 40mm depth, you’ll need an extender: You’ll just pull the core, screw in the extender, and then screw in the core at the top.
The tube is designed in the traditional 19-23mm width, but can be used on tires much wider because butyl stretches.
The Zipp Tangente Butyl Inner Tube is designed to help your wheels gain speed.
