Yeti ASR C2 Bike Info

The Yeti ASR C2 Bike is the most accessible way to ride Yeti's reincarnated cross-country race platform. At $5,600, the C2 puts the same ASR frame architecture, the same 115mm flex-stay suspension design, and the same race-informed geometry under riders who want to step into serious XC without the cost of the TURQ-Series builds. The C/Series carbon frame pairs with a RockShox SID Select fork and SIDLuxe Select+ shock, and the SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission drivetrain delivers clean, reliable shifting in a T-Type-compatible package.

Every ASR — C2 through T5 — shares the same frame geometry and suspension kinematics. The 66.5° head tube angle runs consistent across all five frame sizes. Seat tube angles scale from 70.4° to 72.1° from XS to XL, keeping riders in a forward, efficient pedaling position regardless of frame size. Size-specific chainstay lengths ensure the rear center of the bike scales proportionately with the rider. The C/Series carbon construction brings the same internally tunneled cable routing, sealed pivot bearings, 148mm x 12mm BOOST dropouts, and Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) as the more expensive builds. The integrated rear fender, dual water bottle mounts, and ample 29x2.4 tire clearance are standard across the entire ASR lineup — the C2 does not omit anything that matters on race day.

The suspension uses the same flex-stay design Yeti has been developing since 2003, updated for modern short-stroke shock geometry and current XC kinematics. The RockShox SID Select 3P fork at 120mm and SIDLuxe Select+ 3P shock at 115mm both run 3P TwistLoc remote lockout — the same grip-twist lockout system found on the TURQ-Series builds. Near-linear progression through the mid-stroke keeps the suspension active under power on climbs and through technical terrain, while progressive ramp-up in the final quarter of travel handles bigger hits without throwing the chassis off line. SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission handles the drivetrain duties — a T-Type compatible mechanical groupset with a 32T front ring and 10-52 cassette that covers the full range of terrain the ASR was designed for.

Design Benefits

  1. Full ASR platform at the entry price — same C/Series carbon frame, same flex-stay suspension kinematics, same geometry, same race-day frame features as every other ASR in the lineup. The C2 does not cut corners on what matters for XC riding.
  2. TwistLoc suspension lockout on both ends — the SID Select fork and SIDLuxe Select+ shock both run 3P TwistLoc, so riders can lock out suspension for smooth climbs or fire roads with a grip twist and open it back up for technical terrain without reaching for a remote.
  3. SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission drivetrain — the T-Type compatible mechanical drivetrain uses the same single-sided chainring design as the wireless AXS builds above it. The 32T front ring and 10-52 cassette deliver the same gear range for climbing and descending, with reliable cable-actuated shifting.
  4. Size-scaled dropper post travel — the ASR's short seat tube enables meaningful dropper travel at every size: 125mm on XS, 150mm on S and M, and 175mm on L and XL. Modern XC racing depends on being able to move the saddle out of the way on technical descents, and the C2 supports that fully.
  5. Maxxis Rekon/Rekon Race tire combo — the same front/rear tire pairing used across the ASR lineup. Rekon up front for cornering grip and braking traction on loose terrain, Rekon Race in the rear for faster rolling and reduced weight. A race-tested combination that works across a wide range of XC conditions.

Final Take

The ASR C2 is for riders who want to race or train on Yeti's XC platform without stretching to the wireless builds. The C/Series carbon frame, flex-stay suspension, and ASR geometry are fully intact — the SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission and entry-level DT Swiss wheels represent where the spec adjusts to meet the price. For a first competitive XC bike or a dedicated training machine, the C2 delivers the ASR experience in its most approachable form.

The RA Perspective

The ASR C2 is the one we would point to when someone wants the Yeti XC race experience but cannot justify the step up to the C3 or the TURQ builds. The flex-stay suspension, the geometry, the race-focused frame details — all of it is there at $5,600. That is a genuinely good deal for a full-carbon XC race bike on this platform.

The suspension runs identically to the C3 in terms of kinematics. RockShox SID Select fork and SIDLuxe Select+ shock, both with TwistLoc grip-twist lockout. The only suspension difference between the C2 and C3 is the drivetrain tier — and the Select-level suspension is a capable platform that most competitive XC riders will be happy on. The TwistLoc lockout on both ends is a real advantage over bikes in this price range that only offer a fork remote.

The SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission is mechanical rather than wireless, which is the primary trade-off versus the C3 GX AXS. In practice, it shifts well and the T-Type derailleur design is more resistant to derailleur strikes than conventional caged derailleurs. For riders who are not ready to commit to wireless — or who ride in wet conditions where battery management is an added concern — it is a reasonable spec. The 10-52 cassette gives you the same gear range as the wireless builds.

Where the C2 most clearly shows its tier: the DT Swiss X1900 wheels are the entry point of the DT Swiss mountain lineup. They are functional and durable, but they are the first thing you would look at upgrading once you have been riding the bike for a season and want to unlock more performance from the platform.
