The TRP HY/RD Disc Brake solves a problem that stopped many riders from making the jump to disc: how do you get hydraulic braking performance without replacing your existing cable-pull levers? The HY/RD is a cable-actuated hydraulic caliper — pull the cable, and an internal hydraulic system takes over from there, delivering consistent, progressive stopping power with the self-adjusting pad wear compensation of a true hydraulic setup.
The open hydraulic reservoir handles automatic pad wear adjustment as the pads wear down, so there's no manual re-centering required over the life of the pads. The included semi-metallic compound offers strong bite and fade resistance, and the pads are compatible with Shimano replacements if you want to run a different compound. The 140mm variant ships with an IS-to-PostMount adapter — the L2 — covering 140mm rear and 160mm front rotor configurations. At 195g per caliper, the HY/RD sits in a reasonable range for a hydraulic-performance disc caliper.
