SRAM Force 1 Hydraulic Brake Lever/Flat Mount Caliper (Left Side) Info

When you’re building your SRAM Force 1 group with hydraulic disc brakes, you’ll have a Double-Tap HDR brake-shift lever on the right side. But you don’t need any shift capability on the left. Save yourself the distraction and the weight by installing this Force 1 Hydraulic Brake Lever with Flat Mount Caliper for the left side of your drop bars and front brake.

This lever looks different than a traditional SRAM drop bar lever. That’s because the lever body needed to be enlarged to house a reservoir for the hydraulic fluid, which they also used as an excuse to make the lever body more comfortable to grasp-the hood is longer, and easier to wrap your hands around. The brake lever blade itself also changed. It’s longer to make it easier to reach from the drop. As always, the reach to the lever blade can be adjusted independently so you can easily reach them regardless of finger length or handlebar bend.

This kit is set up so you can pull it out of the box and install the brake caliper and lever on your bike with ease. You get the left lever, a hose filled with DOT 5.1 hydraulic fluid and a Red brake caliper just about ready to go. Thanks to the Connectamajig, you thread the hose from the caliper mount through the fork, or not, to the lever, and then re/attach without having to drain and re-fill the hoses. You’ll need a SRAM Bleed Kit, which includes fluid, syringe, and all the small pieces necessary to finish the job.

The caliper is labeled Force, but is functionally SRAM’s Red road caliper, only with stainless steel mounting hardware rather than titanium. It comes with all the mounting hardware you need to set the calipers up on any disc-brake compatible frame. The pistons are 18mm in diameter and the leverage is tuned for road and ‘cross use.

The brake does not come with a rotor. These caliper is designed to work best with a SRAM 160mm front rotor. Their CenterLine and CenterLine X Rotors are the recommended braking surfaces.

The lever is made from molded carbon-fiber. The hood cover is textured rubber. The caliper is fabricated out of forged aluminum. The included hardware is titanium. The pads are organic and steel-backed.

The SRAM Force 1 Hydraulic Brake Lever with Flat Mount Caliper is the best way to provide front braking for your Force 1-equipped bike.
