SRAM eTap derailleurs come with batteries installed as well as travel covers for both the battery and the derailleur. But there are times when having the security of a spare battery is confidence inspiring. This eTap battery is for those times.
The kit comes with a battery and travel cover. Weight his 24g. The battery measures 44mm by 24mm by 19mm. It’s small enough to fit in a saddle bag, and easy enough to toss in a bike box.
A battery should last about 1,000km before it needs to be recharged. You can check battery life by pressing the function button on the derailleur or if your bike computer is enabled to read the ANT+ signal the rear derailleur sends out.
The battery comes with a 60% charge and should be fully charged before first use.
Because the derailleurs are built with accelerometers inside, it is recommended that you remove the batteries before travelling with the bike in a car or plane. That written, the jostling the bike experiences while traveling is no greater than it would if you’re pedaling, so battery life probably won’t be dramatically effected.
