Shimano PD-M324 Pedals Info
Committing to clipless pedals isn't always the easiest nor the most practical thing to do. It may depend on where and how you plan to ride. This is why the Shimano PD-M324 Pedals are a great compromise. One side offers the convenience of flat pedals. Ride them in your sandals if you like. The other offers the security of the SPD cleat system. Click in and pedal efficiently.
Like the rest of the SPD pedal family, these M324 pedals have an adjustable retention system. It's easy enough to set your preferences with a small hex key on the back of the mechanism - soft for easy release or firm for more security. The pedal body is lightweight aluminum and spins around a tough chromoly spindle on a sealed cup and cone bearing system. The chrome plated steel cage is a bit smaller than typical flat BMX style pedals, but there is more than enough room to support soft-soled casual footwear.
The Shimano PD-M324 Pedals come with two-bolt SM-SH51 Single-Release cleats that offer 4° of float to allow some movement in your ankle as you pedal. They are also compatible with the easier-to-release SM-SH56 Multi-Release cleats.
