Niterider Sentinel 40 Rear Light Info

Don’t think that you can get away with having only a front light on your bike if you are commuting or caught out on a training ride after dark. If anything ensuring that you will be seen from behind is even more important since you won’t be as aware of who is coming at you from behind. With the NiteRider Sentinel 40 Rear Light you can have access to some of the best methods to remain visible even after dark.

Just as its name indicates, the Sentinel 40 stands guard at your rear to make sure drivers and other cyclists coming up behind you will be able to see and avoid hitting you. It puts out 40 lumens of power and has four difference mode settings: fast flash, pulse flash, steady high and steady low. On the fast flash mode, you can count on getting seven hours of light while on the low steady mode, you will have upwards of 36 hours of juice. That is all pretty typical for a rear light, but the Sentinel 40 also offers a laser lane option where you can have two parallel red lights beam down on the ground to form proper lanes on either side of you. This will give drivers an idea of when they are getting just a little too close to you. The laser lane option also has three modes with a fast and slow flash as well as a stead laser lane.

The Sentinel 40 has one button to control the light flash and then a second button to control the laser lane projection. You can use one or the other, or both together. There is also a group ride mode that makes the taillight pulse as opposed to the stead of flash modes. This will help avoid annoying your riding partners staring into a bright steady or flashing beam while riding behind you. The button that controls the light mode is also how you turn it on and then once you cycle through the four modes, you will turn it off. At that point, the light will flash you either a blue or red light. The blue light indicates that you have better than 25% battery life left, whereas when it shows red, that means you have less than 25% battery life and should think about recharging it soon. The Sentinel 40 comes with a USB recharging cable and will take four hours to recharge when it is completely run-down. The Lithium polymer battery has a super slim design without compromising the quality of the battery life, and remains extremely lightweight. And the rubber mounting strap will be able to fit just about any seat post.

The NiteRider Sentinel 40 Rear Light weighs just 73 grams, which will make it probably the lightest lifesaver you could have on your bike. But since this does involve a class two laser product, NiteRider is careful to caution you against looking directly at it.
