The Niterider Sentinel 40 Rear Light does more than flash red — it projects a laser lane onto the road surface, casting two parallel lines on either side of you to signal your space to approaching drivers. At 40 lumens with four output modes — steady high, steady low, fast flash, and pulse flash — it covers everything from low-light commutes to full dark training rides, with battery life ranging from 7 hours on fast flash up to 36 hours on steady low.

Two separate buttons give you independent control over the taillight and the laser lane, so you can run either or both depending on conditions. The laser lane itself offers three modes — steady, fast flash, and slow flash. There's also a group ride mode that pulses the taillight in a way that's easier on riders drafting behind you. A built-in battery indicator flashes blue when charge is above 25% and red when it's running low, so you're never caught out mid-ride without warning.
