The Lake CX332 is a serious race shoe built around Lake's CX/TX Race Last — a performance-oriented fit with a slightly narrower toe box, tighter heel pocket, and reduced overall volume compared to Lake's Competition and Sport lasts. It's designed for riders who want their foot to feel locked in and precise at high cadence, without any lateral movement between foot and pedal.
The upper is constructed from Klite Kangaroo leather, which is notably supple and conforms to the foot over time while staying lightweight and breathable. Perforations across the upper encourage airflow on hot days, and the heel and tongue are lined with Outlast temperature-regulating material — originally developed for NASA, Outlast actively buffers heat rather than simply wicking moisture. The internal heel counter is a Heat Moldable Thermaform Carbon Fiber unit that can be softened with heat to create a custom fit around your specific heel geometry.
The outsole is Lake's Race Carbon Fiber Sole with their patented Double Sole construction: a semi-flexible fiberglass inner sole sits suspended over a rigid full-carbon outer sole. This dual-layer system keeps the platform stiff for power transfer while allowing the inner layer to flex slightly under swelling or load at the ball of the foot — a design detail that becomes meaningful over three-hour races when foot volume increases. Closure is handled by dual side-mounted BOA dials offering two-zone micro-adjustability across the midfoot and instep.
