Isaac Joule Frameset Info
The Isaac Joule Frameset is a full carbon monocoque time trial and triathlon platform, built during the era when full-carbon monocoque construction was still new to the discipline. Isaac built the Joule around a dedicated aero philosophy rather than adapting a road frame for the TT position, and that intent shows up in nearly every part of the frame's construction.
The head tube and bottom bracket shell use what Isaac calls its Ellipse Project shaping — an elliptical cross-section at both junctions aimed at optimum stiffness and accurate handling. Because a time trial frame has to hold a rigid line at speed while a rider sits in a fixed, forward-rotated position, the stiffness at these two junctions matters more than it would on a road frame built for varied, dynamic loads. The same Ellipse Project approach carries into the fork, a monocoque design with a dual-diameter steerer built for accurate handling and high strength and stiffness without adding weight — important on a bike where the front end takes the brunt of aerodynamic and structural stress at speed.
The headset uses an asymmetrical, cartridge-bearing design for smoothness and wear resistance over time, and the dropouts are CNC-machined with a radial aperture pattern, a construction Isaac built for strength, stiffness, and everyday practicality when swapping wheels between training and race day. Cable routing runs through pierced ports at both the head tube and bottom bracket, keeping gear cables tucked close to the frame for a neater run than routing them externally along the tube surfaces.
The seatpost is integrated and teardrop-sectioned, matching the aero intent of the rest of the frame while still offering a full range of adjustment — a detail that matters on a TT or triathlon bike, where getting saddle height and fore-aft position exactly right can be the difference between holding an aero position comfortably for an hour and fighting it. The seatstays were developed using finite element analysis and given a curved shape aimed at improving both comfort and aerodynamics, a combination that's harder to achieve than optimizing for one or the other alone.
Weight-wise, the frame comes in at 1,245 grams, the fork at 340 grams, and the seatpost at 210 grams — figures that held up well for a dedicated TT platform when full carbon monocoque construction was still establishing itself in the category. This is a frameset for a triathlete or time trialist who wants to build a race machine from a proven, purpose-built aero platform rather than adapt a general-purpose frame to the job, assembling their own component spec and fit around a frame that was designed for exactly this kind of riding from the start.
